Reuters – Michigan’s Republican governor said on Wednesday he will ask doctors to report the body fat levels of children under the age of 18 to a government registry in a bid to fight rampant obesity.

AP – Gov. Rick Snyder plans to direct doctors in Michigan to begin monitoring the body weight of their young patients and provide the data to a state registry in one of the most extensive government efforts to address the growing problem of pediatric obesity, the Associated Press has learned.

Obese Man Sues White Castle, Launches Latest Frivolous Lawsuit (ContributorNetwork)

ContributorNetwork – COMMENTARY | Can a man be sued for stupidity? If so, Martin Kessman of New York should have a class action lawsuit against him. Kessman is suing the fast food chain White Castle because he’s unable to squeeze his large body into their seats. Kessman says he wrote several complaints to corporate headquarters, and only received coupons for three free hamburgers, and they didn’t even include the cheese. White Castle allegedly sent him a letter stating it had plans to expand their booth size, but in Kessman’s eyes the chain did not act quickly enough.

Overweight Parents Want Physical Education for Kids, Poll Finds (ContributorNetwork)

ContributorNetwork – The University of Michigan C-S Children’s Hospital released results of a poll taken recently. The poll asked whether kids especially ages 6 to 11 got enough exercise and if not, why. Parents, particularly overweight parents, want schools to provide more physical education.
